Wees toch niet altijd zo bezorgd, zo gestresst. Rust in Gods aanwezigheid en laat Hem de leiding nemen. Hij weet waar je heen moet, Hij kent de weg die je moet gaan. Rust in Hem. Relax en zie hoe Hij je leven leidt.
Don't be worried and stressed al the time. Rest in God's presence and let Him take control. He knows where you have to go. He knows the way you have to take. Rest in Him. Relax and see how He leads your life.
Hij zal alle tranen uit hun ogen wissen. Er zal geen dood meer zijn, geen rouw, geen jammerklacht, geen pijn, want wat er eerst was is voorbij. He will wipe all tears from their eyes, and there will be no more death, suffering, crying, or pain. These things of the past are gone forever.
Vanmiddag ben ik naar de begrafenis van een lieve oude mevrouw geweest.
Ik kom niet veel op begrafenissen gelukkig, maar steeds weer doet het
verdriet me zo'n pijn. Het verdriet van de achterblijvende familie,
het verdriet van vrienden en kennissen... Maar wat me nog het meest
zeer doet is dat het niet zo hóort te zijn. De dood is niet natuurlijk,
het is geen deel van het leven. Het is niet goed. Wij als mensen zijn
niet gemaakt om dood te gaan. We zijn gemaakt om te leven! Gelukkig
weet ik van de lieve vrouw die vanmiddag begraven is, dat ze nu leeft.
Voor altijd. Dat geeft troost. Ik hoop en bid dat het ook de achter-
blijvende familie troost zal geven.
This afternoon I went to the funeral of a dear old lady. Luckily I don't
attend lots of funerals, but once again the grief hurt me so much. The
grief of the family that's left behind, the grief of friends... But
what hurts me the most is that it isn't supposed to be like this! Death
isn't natural, it isn't part of life. It's not good. We as people aren't
made to die. We are made to live! Luckily I know that the sweet lady that
was burried this afternoon is alive right now. Forever. That's comforting.
I hope and pray it will also comfort the family that's left behind.

God is mij aan het snoeien. Net zoals een pottenbakker zijn klei vormt, snijdt en kneedt en dit behoorlijk hard kan zijn, voelt dit niet altijd even fijn. Maar het is voor mijn eigen bestwil. Er wordt iets moois van me gemaakt. Stukjes angst worden zorgvuldig weggeknipt. Losse blaadjes van teleurstelling en ontevredenheid worden afgeplukt.
Soms moet je even door een proces van snoeien voor je verder kunt. Zoals een boom gesnoeid wordt om in het voorjaar weer uit te kunnen lopen, zo worden mijn oude takken weggesneden om ruimte te maken voor het nieuwe leven.
God is pruning me. Like a potter shapes, cuts and molds his clay, which can be quite hard, it doesn't always feel so great. It's for my own good. Something beautiful is being made of me. Pieces of anxiety are cut away carefully. Loose leaves of disapointment and dissatisfaction are plucked away.
Sometimes you have to go trough a process of pruning before you can go on. Like the tree is pruned to be able to blossom in the spring, so are my old branches cut away to make room for the new life.
Soms verlang ik naar iets waar ik niet bij kan. Iets ongrijpbaars. Een verlangen dat ik niet echt een plekje kan geven. Je kent het wel: een gevoel van heimwee naar een wereld die je niet kent. Een wereld vol vrede, liefde, blijdschap. Ik denk dat C.S. Lewis gelijk heeft als hij zegt dat dat verwijst naar wie wij werkelijk zijn en naar de wereld waar we werkelijk horen. Een wereld van de toekomst, waar we eigenlijk thuishoren.
De wereld waar we eigenlijk in thuishoren is er een vol vrede, liefde en blijdschap. Een wereld 'waarin alles goed was'(zie Genesis 1). We zijn voor die wereld geschapen. Alles wat daarvan afwijkt is een slechte afspiegeling of hooguit een verre echo van hoe het hoort te zijn.
Sometimes I desire something I can't reach. Something elusive. A desire I can't really put my finger on. Maybe you know the feeling: a feeling of homesickness to a world you don't even know. A world filled with peace, love and happiness. I think C.S. Lewis is right when he says it points to who we really are and to the world in which we really belong. A world of the future, in which we actually belong.
The world in which we actually belong is filled with peace, love and happiness. A world in which 'all was well' ( see Genesis 1). We were created for that world. Everything that deviates from that is a bad reflection or a distant echo at most of how it's supposed to be.
