Soms kun je niet anders dan stil zijn. Ik zeg het 
zo vaak tegen mezelf: stil maar. Schakel alle 
gedachten, tegenwerpingen en ruis maar uit. Laat
God. 

Sometimes you can't be anything but quiet. I often
say it to myself: quiet. Turn off all thoughts, 
objections and statics. Let God.

Ik heb zoveel om dankbaar voor te zijn, niet in het minst
voor Gods grote trouw. Nog nooit heeft Hij me teleurgesteld. 
Nog nooit iets niet gedaan wat Hij beloofde. Dit lied geeft
mijn dankbaarheid goed weer.

I have so much to be thankful for, not in the least Gods great
faithfulness. Never ever has He let me down. Never has He
promised something and not done it. This song expresses my
gratitude well.

Wandering…

Soms heb je van die dagen, dat alles maar een 
beetje ´mehhhh´ is. Dagen waarop niks lukt, alles 
tegenzit en niets leuk is. Dat zijn de dagen waarop 
ik merk dat ik aan het dwalen ben. Ik ben niet gefocust, 
niet op wat ik belangrijk vind. 
En wat vind ik dan belangrijk? Mijn familie, mijn vrienden,
mijn schrijven en bovenal God. God, mijn Vader, mijn Redder.
Kennen jullie het lied 'Hopeless Wanderer' van Mumford & Sons?
Zo zit ik in elkaar, en jullie misschien ook wel. We dwalen
wat af...
Hoe ik weer mijn focus terugkrijg? Een lijstje:

- Ik bid. Veel. Ik vraag God om me te laten zien wat belangrijk
is en waar ik me mee bezig moet houden.
- Ik lees uit de Bijbel en vraag God me door Zijn woord
te laten zien waar mijn focus zou moeten liggen.
- Ik luister naar positieve muziek die me helpt in te zien
dat God boven alles van belang is en dat ook mijn leven 
belangrijk is. 

Want dat is natuurlijk het punt. Je leven is van belang, ook
al lijkt dat niet zo te zijn. Je kunt er wel voor op de loop
gaan en denken dat het er toch niets toe doet, maar je hebt 
wel degelijk impact, een bestemming, een Vader Die van je 
houdt. Nooit vergeten!

Sometimes there are those days when everything is a 
bit 'mehhh'. Days when nothing seems to work, everything 
is against you and nothing's fun. Those are the days when I
notice I'm wandering. I'm not focused, not on what I find
important. 
What do I find important? My family, my friends, my writing
and above all my God. God, my Father, my Saviour. 
Do you know the song 'Hopeless Wanderer' by Mumford & Sons?
That's the way I am, and maybe it's the way you are too. 
We wander away. 
How do I regain focus? A little list:
- I pray. A lot. I ask God to show me what's important and 
what should occupy my life.
- I read in the Bible and ask God to show me trough His word 
where my focus should be.
- I listen to positive music that helps to see that God is 
important above all else and that my life too is of value. 

Because thta, of course, is the whole issue. Your life is 
of value, even when it doesn't seem to be. You can run away
from it, thinking it doesn't matter, but you really do have
an impact, a destiny, a Father Who loves you. Never forget 
that!

Lovingly embraced

In English, this text from Isaiah 38 verse 17 says something like: 'You have 
lovingly embraced my soul.' I think that is such a beautiful translation, 
especially when you read the lines around it.
