Niet te geloven, over een week is Kerst al weer bijna voorbij. In ieder geval voor bijna de hele wereld, in Nederland vieren we twee Kerstdagen, donderdag en vrijdag. Vandaag wilde ik wat plaatjes, spreuken en andere mooie dingen die met Kerst te maken hebben delen. Om vast een beetje in de (goede) sfeer te komen. Het eerste plaatje heb je natuurlijk al gezien: ik had ‘m vorig jaar vrijwel de hele winter als behangetje op m’n laptop en nu weer. Als je erop klikt, kom je op de site waar je ‘m kunt downloaden. Ik vind ‘m prachtig, net zoals ik het lied waar de tekst uitkomt (joy to the world) prachtig vind.
It’s unbelievable, in a week’s time Christmas will almost be over. At least for most of the world, in the Netherlands we celebrate Christmas for two days, Thursday and Friday. Today I wanted to share some pictures, quotes and other beautiful things about Christmas with you. To set the (right) mood. The first picture you have already seen of course: I’ve had is as a wallpaper on my laptop almost the entire winter last year and now it’s there again. When you click on it, you get to the site where you can download it. I love it, just like I love the song (joy tot the world) where these lyrics are from.
Zoals velen van jullie luister ik graag naar Kerstliedjes. Persoonlijk vind ik dat ‘Santa’ niks met Kerst te maken heeft (Santa is ook nog steeds niet zo’n ‘big deal’ in Nederland als hij in andere landen is), dus die liedjes skip ik. Hieronder een lijstje met mijn favoriete kerstliederen. Ik realiseer me dat de meesten ervan al behoorlijk oud zijn, maar dat maakt ze niet minder mooi:
Like many of you I like to listen to Christmas songs. Personally I don’t think ‘Santa’ has anything to do with Christmas (Santa still isn’t really as big of a deal in the Netherlands as he is in other countries), so songs about him I skip. Above is a list with my favorite Christmas songs. I realise most of them are oldies, but that doesn’t make them any less beautiful!

Ik hoop dat je in deze laatste week van voorbereiding gefocust mag zijn op Degene om wie Kerst draait: Jezus Christus. Dat je Hem zoekt, Hem aanbidt, samen met anderen Zijn komst viert en Hem eer brengt. En dat je niet alleen gedenkt dat Hij ooit naar deze aarde kwam als baby’tje, om ons te verlossen, maar dat je ook wacht op Zijn tweede komst, wanneer Hij als Koning komt en ons Thuis brengt! Fijne Kerstdagen alvast!
I hope that in this last week of preparation you may be focused on the One Christmas is about: Jesus Christ. That you search for Him, worship Him, celebrate Him coming to earth with others and give Him the glory. And that you do not only remember that He came to this earth as a little baby to redeem us, but that you also wait for His second coming to this earth, when He comes as the King and takes us Home.
